Dr Anupam Verma is presently working as Professor in the Department of Transfusion Medicine at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, (SGPGIMS) Lucknow, India besides having additional charge of Chief Medical Superintendent of Kalyan Singh Super Specialty Cancer Institute at C.G. City, Lucknow.
He has more than 23 yrs of post-PG experience in blood transfusion with special interest in clinical transfusion medicine including hemostasis. He has more than 50 research publications in national & international journals.
He has been awarded the prestigious “Princess of Wales” award by British Blood Transfusion Society and has received international travel fellowships for UK in 2006 and Australia in 2007. He has received Harold Gunsen fellowships twice from ISBT (China in 2008 and Germany in 2010). He is a recipient of ISBTI Young Scientist Fellowship Award besides he has received ‘Award for Excellence in Transfusion Medicine’ in Chennai in 2019.
He has served as the first State Nodal Officer of Uttar Pradesh for Hemophilia for more than 3 years supervising 26 hemophilia centers in the state. He has held various other administrative posts including Sub-Dean (Faculty) and member Governing Body of SGPGIMS and Assistant Nodal Officer for College of Medical Technology at SGPGIMS. He has been an external and internal expert for NACO training on blood safety. He has been appointed external examiner for MD examinations in India and also has served as subject expert in various selection committees of Public Service Commission. He is a member of American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), Asian Association of Transfusion Medicine (AATM) and Indian Society of Transfusion Medicine (ISTM). He is Chairperson of the Academic Certificate Committee of AATM responsible for successful running of a global online certificate course “Advance Certificate in Transfusion Medicine”. Currently he is serving as Vice President of AATM and Joint Secretary (nominated) of ISTM.
